President Kim Il Sung declares the foundation of

the Anti-Japanese People's Guerilla Army (April 25, 1932)

August 15 and President Kim Il Sung

August 15 is a historic day when the Korean people restored the country usurped by the Japanese imperialists.

During the 40-odd years of the country’s occupation by the brigandish Japanese imperialists the Korean people had to suffer ineffable national misfortune and pains.

Innumerable were the displaced people who were forced to leave their native villages and wander about in foreign lands, and those who were killed in the war fields and mines due to the cruel plunder and medieval exploitation of Japanese imperialism.

The Japanese imperialists ran amuck to obliterate the Korean language and even the surnames and names of the Korean people and plundered natural resources including gold and valuables and precious cultural treasures indiscriminately.

They erased the name of Korea with 5 000-year long time-honored history and culture from the world map.

Nevertheless, Korea never died.

Young general Kim Il Sung kindled the flames of national liberation in the dark sky and defeated the gangster-like Japanese imperialists in the end.

The Arch of Triumph

 

The three thousand-ri of Korea was elated with the joy and jubilation of liberation.

President Kim Il Sung liberated the Korean nation that was deprived of the motherland, more precious than the life, by the Japanese imperialists and lived as colonial slaves, and Korea which almost lost its existence amidst the distress of the national ruin.

Thanks to August 15 the Korean nation was revived and a new history of the nation began.

Therefore, marking significant August 15 every year all the Korean people highly praise the undying exploits of President Kim Il Sung, who brought about the new spring of the national resurrection, with the boundless reverence for him.

The world progressive peoples, too, extol President Kim Il Sung, who fathered the great Juche idea and Songun idea to illuminate the way for mankind and defeated the brigandish Japanese imperialists with the arms of Songun and realized the historical cause of Korea’s liberation, as the lodestar of human emancipation and the great sun of the independent era.
