Sweeping trend of June 15

A national rally for peaceful reunification was held in front of the Imjin Pavilion in Gyeonggi Province under the sponsorship of the South Side Committee to Implement the June 15 Joint Declaration to mark the 11th anniversary of the publication of the historic South-North June 15 Joint Declaration.

Participated there were members of civic organizations from different strata and members of national meeting for peaceful reunification, the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea’s Reunification, the Solidarity for Progress and the People’s Solidarity for Participatory Democracy. Figures from the opposition parties including the Democratic Party and the Democratic Labor Party also took part in the rally.

Speakers, at the rally, strongly censured the south Korean authorities for having broken the joint meeting marking the 11th anniversary of the adoption of the June 15 inter-Korean joint declaration to be held in Kaesong.

They said that if the June 15 joint declaration is implemented the Korean nation in the south, north and abroad would have marked the day of publication in Pyongyang and Seoul and the inter-Korean relations would have reaped good fruition.

The grave reality shows that the implementation of the inter-Korean joint declaration is the path for peace and reunification and the Lee Myung-bak regime should be aware of the truth, they noted.

They declared that no force can curb the Korean nation’s advance for peaceful reunification however desperate the Lee administration has made efforts to defame the spirit of the June 15 joint declaration.

They urged the south Korean authorities to implement the June 15 joint declaration, rolling back worn-out confrontation policy against north Korea.

They chanted slogans “Let us join hands and achieve common prosperity of the nation!” holding reunification flags in their hands.

Meanwhile, there was a marathon race wishing reunification in Cheonju, North Cheolla Province, under the sponsorship of the North Cheolla Provincial Headquarters of the South Side Committee to Implement the June 15 Joint Declaration.

3 000 pupils of middle and high schools and citizens took part in the marathon.

After full text of June 15 joint declaration was read out, the participants started the race.

However, the Lee clan established a command to prepare military provocation and infiltration of somebody that day and Unification Minister Hyun In-taek absented himself from June 15-related meetings.

The present reality shows that the frosty inter-Korean relations would not be healed as long as the Lee regime has pursued the policy against Korea’s reunification.

The AINDF and south Korean people will frustrate the Lee clan’s scheme against reunification and intensify a nationwide drive for implementing the June 15 joint declaration.
