A Power Station Named after Youth
A Power Station Named after Youth
In the period of mourning for the demise of leader Kim Jong Il the Korean young people gave full play to their determination to implement his plan to build a thriving nation at any cost.
More than 1.2 million young people volunteered to serve the Korean People’s Army.
Over 3 million young people formed more than 10 000 shock brigades and went to the Paektusan Songun Youth Power Station, Mansudae area construction site, Komdok Mining Complex and other places.
Thus they tried to repay the infinite affection and trust of Kim Jong Il who had regarded the youth issue as an important problem related to the future destiny of the country and set up the young people as a vanguard and shock brigade for the building of a thriving nation.
It was long ago that he advanced the slogan “Love the Young People!”
He would be very pleased to see the success made by them and name the structures after youth.
The following happened in mid-May 2002.
Kim Jong Il arrived at the Thaechon Youth Power Station No.3 for on-site guidance.
Commending young constructors for their services, he stepped towards the generator room together with some officials.
He suddenly stopped seeing the letters on the top of the door. He was pleased the name of the power station contained the letters “youth”.
At the point, officials said to him they had named the power station Thaechon Youth Power Station No.3 to an honor of the young shock brigade members.
He appreciated them for naming the power station after youth.
He slowly walked into the generator room.
Told in detail about the size and production capacity of the power station, he said the young shock brigade in North Phyongan Province did quite a bit of work and spoke highly of it.
Watching the body of a generator, he found its name “Young Vanguard”.
He said he was most pleased to see anything named after youth, stressing the need to remember their exploits and encourage them with such a name.
Mentioning that young people are in charge of all major construction in the country, he expressed thanks to all young constructors on behalf of the WPK Central Military Commission and the National Defence Commission of DPRK.
Like this, Kim Jong Il would be most pleased to see any structure named after youth and added brilliance to the heroic feats of young people.
Today the Korean youths, grown under the great trust of Kim Jong Il, are standing in the vanguard of the struggle for the building of a thriving nation firmly united behind respected Kim Jong Un.
