Torch of the DIU

President Kim Il Sung sought the original path of struggle in his early teens and formed the Down-With-Imperialism Union (DIU) totally different from the preceding struggle organizations.

The DIU which was formed on October 17, Juche 15(1926) was aimed to overthrow the Japanese imperialism, achieve the liberation and independence of Korea and build socialism in Korea.

The formation of the DIU was a historic announcement heralding the new start of the Korean revolution and an epochal event which provided a milestone of a radical turn in shaping the destiny of the fatherland and nation.

Thanks to its formation the revolutionary struggle of the Korean people could be put on a fresh track of its development and the glorious root of the Workers’ Party of Korea began to strike.

Under the banner of the DIU the anti-Japanese armed ranks were organized and the armed struggle against the Japanese were waged, so thus the cause of the national liberation was accomplished, the destiny of the nation saved and a prospect of independence and prosperity opened up.

The program of the DIU constituted the cornerstone of that of the WPK, the principles of independence upheld by the DIU became the principle of the building and activities of the WPK and the new-generation revolutionaries brought up by the DIU formed the backbone cadres in founding the WPK.

Indeed, President Kim Il Sung is the great man who set forth the aims of struggle replete with the matchless clairvoyance and the grand ambition and ideal, formed the genuine Juche-motivated revolutionary vanguard and opened up the new era of national independence and building a new society under the banner of independence.

Therefore, the patriotic people in south Korea and the progressive humankind of the world note that the banner of the DIU is the banner of national restoration, national defence and national prosperity, praising that President Kim Il Sung is the outstanding leader of the Korean and world revolution who made the immortal contribution to the cause of the national and human liberation.

Today the WPK which was originated from the DIU and has traversed its original path has more splendidly perfected its appearance as the revolutionary party of Juche and demonstrates its ever-victorious might under the wise leadership of respected Marshal Kim Jong Il.
