Last year moves of the US and south Korean regime for confrontation against the DPRK reached an extreme.

Anti-reunification forces in south Korea ran amuck for the inter-Korean showdown and war provocation in collusion with the outsiders.

South Korean war maniacs staged “Key Resolve”, “Foal Eagle”, “Ulji Freedom Guardian”, “Hoguk” and other large-scale joint military drills with the US against north Korea almost everyday.

The south Korean fascist regime further intensified suppression of the pro-reunification patriotic forces stirring up the confrontation mood against the fellow countrymen.

It, in particular, wickedly clung to moves to hamstring the inter-Korean relations unreasonably finding fault with nuclear issue in actuality, paying only lip service to “dialogue” and “cooperation” and dampen the nation’s mood of reconciliation and cooperation through the armed provocation incident in the West Sea and the like.

Accordingly, the inter-Korean relations were aggravated to the worst and a severe difficulty was created before the Korean nation advancing toward independent reunification.

Anti-north confrontation moves of the south Korean regime aroused towering anger and protests among all the compatriots, and the south Korean people intensified the mass struggle against the anachronistic anti-north confrontation and war moves of the regime.

This year is a significant year marking the 10^th publication anniversary of the historic June 15 joint declaration.

The June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration provided by leader Kim Jong Il are the signpost of the independent reunification.

This year the south Korean people will vigorously wage the patriotic struggle for reunification to invariably defend and faithfully implement the inter-Korean declarations of which validity and vitality were plainly proved through the reality of the era of independent reunification.

Now pro-reunification movement organizations and different civic organizations including the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country’s Reunification, the South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country’s Reunification, the Solidarity for Realizing the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration, the South Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration, the Solidarity for Progress, the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils, the Federation of Korean Trade Unions, the People for Peace and Reunification, the Federation of Peasants Associations and the Federation of Media Workers Unions are full of burning determination to further intensify the struggle to drive out the US, architect of the country’s division, and liquidate the anti-reunification conservative forces and bring about the reunification at an early date with the concerted efforts of all the people in this year marking the 10^th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration, despite of the desperate moves of the anti-reunification forces.

The south Korean people from different strata will dynamically wage this year the struggle for reunifying the country full of confidence upholding the banner of independent reunification, the banner of inter-Korean declarations so as to adorn this year as a year of opening up a new phase of independent reunification.
