April 9 is a historical day when respected leader Kim Jong Il was elected chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK.

We greet this day in a stirring time when the nation’s dignity and glory are displayed throughout the world and the grandiose blueprint for a thriving nation is realized under the uplifted banner of Songun.

Having leader Kim Jong Il on the top post of revolution, the DPRK could valiantly overcome the unprecedented severe trials and difficulties and demonstrate the independent dignity and glory of socialist Korea by dint of Songun, and turn the worst adversities into favorable circumstances thus opening up a great heyday for the nation’s prosperity and creating a proud and victorious history for accelerating the building of a thriving nation.
