Criminal Acts Against Peace and Reunification

Now anti-north confrontational moves counter to the current of peace, stability, dialogue and cooperation take place in south Korea triggering bitter denunciations among different circles.

The south Korean and US warmongers staged another aggressive war drills against north Korea in the West Sea of the Korean Peninsula since October 13 with the participation of the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier “George Washington” of the US 7th Fleet and the main force of the south Korean 2nd Fleet under the cloak of providing against the alleged “north’s sea infiltration”.

South Korean defense minister Kim Tae-young and his US counterpart Robert Gates held the 41st “annual security consultative meeting” in Seoul on October 22 to discuss the “military reaction posture” to cope with the so-called “north’s nuclear threat” and published a joint statement.

The warmongers stipulated in the 16-point statement that the US armed forces throughout the world including those stationed in south Korea, the US mainland and Japan are to be committed in a strategic and flexible way in contingency of the Korean Peninsula to defend south Korea and provide the latter with the “extended deterrent” by mobilizing all category of military capabilities including nukes, conventional forces and missile defense system.

Such war games and war confab aimed at invading the north by the south Korean and US military authorities at the time when a favorable environment for détente of the Korean Peninsula and the improvement of relations between north Korea and the US and between the north and south of Korea is settled are vicious confrontational moves against the DPRK to check the improvement of the inter-Korean relations.

On October 12 the Pyongtaek Solidarity Conference of Democratic Organizations called a press conference in front of the 2nd Fleet headquarters of the south Korean navy in Pyongtaek, Gyeounggi Province, and the Solidarity for Realizing the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration made public a statement on October 15 against the south Korea-US joint military exercises.

They bitterly condemned the joint military drills as criminal acts that get on the dialogue partner’s nerve and chill the desire of the compatriots for reunification, and war preparations to invade the north, not for the dialogue to promote peace of the Korean Peninsula.

The US and south Korean authorities should lend their ears to the voice at home and abroad calling for the improved north Korea-US and inter-Korean relations, peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula, and stop at once the anti-north confrontational and war moves.
