Leader Kim Jong Il, who devotes his all to terminate at an early date the history of the country divided by the foreign forces and reunify it without fail, visited Panmunjeum situated at the foremost frontline on November 24 Juche 85(1996).

First of all, he found himself in front of the monument to the President Kim Il Sung’s autography which was newly erected there.

Seeing the autography cherishing the lifelong desire and the reunification instructions of the President for a while, Kim Jong Il emotionally recalled saying that it was the reunification-related document that the fatherly President signed in person at the last moment of his life, the President read the thick document related to the national reunification overnight and wrote down on the front cover his august name and the date in a skilful handwriting.

He said with bitter grief that the fatherly President who sacrificed all his soul and heart for the sake of the reunification, left his last autography on the reunification-related document spending the last day of his life and passed away all of a sudden.

The respected leader who dropped in at the monument twice that day said that we should reunify the country without fail true to the desire and will of the President.

And he emphasized that he would reunify the country and give it to our people as a present as the President said that the biggest present he could give to our people was the country’s reunification.

These teachings were a historic declaration to surely implement the reunification instructions of the President and a thunder of reunification dealing a heavy blow to the separatists.

On that historic day he formulated the three principles of the national reunification, the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo and the 10-point program for the great unity of the whole nation, which were clarified by the President, as the three charters of the national reunification.

Since then he has energetically aroused all the Korean people to the nation-wide struggle for the country’s reunification.

Thanks to his lofty patriotism and grand decision the north-south summit meeting was arranged for the first time in history of the country’s division, the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, milestones of the reunification, came to being and an era of independent reunification dynamically advancing under the banner of “By Our Nation Itself” was opened.

Indeed, respected leader Kim Jong Il is the lodestar of the reunification, who turned the inter-Korean relations of mistrust and confrontation to that of reconciliation and unity with his sublime patriotism, broad-minded generosity and bottomless love and trust. He is the great sun of the nation who defends the dignity and security of the nation from the frenzied anti-north confrontational moves of the US and other imperialist reactionary forces by dint of the great Songun politics, and wisely leads all the Korean people to the struggle for building a reunified thriving nation.

Therefore, the patriotic people from different strata in south Korea, full of confidence and optimism for a reunified country and prosperity of the nation through the sacred looks of leader Kim Jong Il and his immortal leadership feats, are more vigorously waging the movement for independence, democracy and reunification upholding his great Songun politics.
